care instructions

Camps & Camps jewellery is not suitable for children under 4 years. Some items of jewellery and parts are small enough to cause choking. Therefore the jewellery should be kept out of reach of children.

Camps & Camps jewellery is made with great care. Each piece is gold or silver plated and is free of nickel, lead and cadmium which should normally be sufficient to avoid allergic reactions. To ensure that you get the maximum enjoyment from your jewellery, we advise against wearing it whilst sleeping, showering or when engaged in sports or similar activities. Avoid contact with perfumes, hairspray, body lotion and such like. Follow these tips and your Camps & Camps jewellery will give you lasting pleasure.

With a little extra care and attention you can keep your jewellery looking beautiful for longer. Follow the tips below:

Wearing your bijoux

  • It makes sense to take off your bijoux before starting strenuous work or exercise, but remember to remove your bijoux if you are going about routine household tasks too. Cleaning solvents can damage both soft gemstones and precious metals.
  • Remove rings before you apply hand or body creams.
  • Only put your bijoux on after you have applied your make-up, perfume and hairspray.
  • Before you style your hair, it is sensible to remove your bijoux. Chemicals in colouring agents and perm solutions can do irreparable damage to both metals, plated metals and stones.
  • Wearing bijoux in a chlorinated pool or hot tub is not advised. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can permanently damage your piece of jewellery.

Storing your bijoux

  • Before putting necklaces away, remember to refasten the clasps.
  • Keep bijoux items separate. Other jewellery, stones and metals will scratch metal finishes.
  • Exposure to air and light can cause a plating to tarnish. Store your bijoux safely in a dark dry place, or store it in a resealable plastic bag.

 Cleaning your bijoux

  • You can clean your jewellery before you store it. Hold it from one end and gently clean it using a jeweller’s cloth, or other smooth, soft cloth. Do not use paper towels, as they can scratch some metals. Fabrics like terry cloth can snag on and break delicate chains.
  • A mild soap and water solution applied with a soft brush cleans most bijoux effectively.
  • Cleaning agents that contain abrasives – including toothpaste – can damage glue, metals and stones.
  • Rubbing with a mico fibre cloth will restore the shine and lustre to all plated metals.
  • If bijoux get moist from perspiration, wash gently in water and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
  • Never use hard objects like toothpicks to clean around pronged settings
